Anthony J."Tony" Freni Jr., a resident of Saugus for the last 20 years and formerly of Arlington, died on Saturday April 12, 2008 at Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers following a courageous battle with several illnesses. He was 55 years old.
Tony was born in Boston on September 12, 1952. He grew up in Arlington, where he attended Arlington Public Schools and graduated from Arlington High School. Tony has worked for many years in the produce industry, he was co-owner of A.J. Freni Brockerage in Chelsea and was currently employed with State Garden Produce in Chelsea as a salesperson until his illness forced him to stop working.
Anthony is the beloved son of Carmela "Milly" (Gazzana) Freni of Saugus and the late Anthony J. Freni. He is the devoted brother of Marilyn and Edward Ziolkowski of Melrose and Kevin Freni of Stoneham. He is the loving uncle of Jim Ziolkowski and his wife Deadra, Steven Ziolkowski and his wife Sharon, Tara Spear and her husband Barry and great-uncle of Kevin, Braxton, Ashley, Justin, Chaz, Scott, Carena, Tanyon and Alyssa.
Anthony's Funeral will be held on Tuesday April 15, 2008 at 11:30 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home, 1159 Main St. Melrose followed by his Funeral Mass in The Church of The Incarnation, 425 Upham St. Melrose at 12:30 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours for Anthony will be held on Monday April 14, 2008 from 3 to 8 p.m. Entombment will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum, Everett.
