Catherine A. "Kitty" McLaughlin, in her 100th year, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Friday, July 14, 2017 at Briarwood Nursing Home in Needham.
Kitty was born in Boston on May 25, 1918, a daughter of the late James McLaughlin and Catherine (McLaughlin) McLaughlin. She grew up in Charlestown where she was educated at St. Mary's Parochial School and graduated from Charlestown High School. Kitty worked as a Clerk in the Building Department for the City of Boston and retired following over 30 years of dedicated service to the City of Boston. Kitty enjoyed her sweets especially her Little Debbies and chocolate. She enjoyed watching Jeapordy and the Wheel of Fortune and reading, doing puzzles and her favorite past time was singing where she was a member of the St. Mary's Choir many years ago.
Kitty is the devoted sister of Vincent McLaughlin, Elizabeth Bell, Veronica Smith, Pauline McLaughlin and the late Mary Hurley, Rose O'Leary, Rita Biggins, Ginny Powers, Margaret Coleman, Michael McLaughlin, James McLaughlin, Thomas McLaughlin, Steve McLaughlin, Cornelius McLaughlin and Robert McLaughlin. Kitty is also lovingly survived by her many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Kitty's visiting hours on Tuesday morning, July 18, 2017 from 9 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 11 A.M. Her burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden.
