Catherine D. "Nippy" (Hagerty) McKinley, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at her home. She was 85 years of age.
Nippy was born in Boston on March 2, 1941. She grew up in Charlestown where she was educated throughout the Boston Public School system. Nippy worked as a Baker at Johnny's Food Master in Charlestown and retired following 30 years of dedicated and humble cooking of sweets and breads to the people of Charlestown. Nippy always concerned herself with family first and she certainly dedicated her entire life to her family especially her husband, 2 sons and grandchildren. In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking for her family and always looked forward to Wednesday of each week where she would spend her time at the Encore Casino with the girls.
Nippy is the beloved wife of the late Paul T. McKinley. She is the devoted mother of Paul T. McKinley Jr. and his wife Becky and Brian A. McKinley. She is the loving Nana to Kayla and her husband Noel, Boston Firefighter Brian, Brady and Nana Nippy to Collin. Nippy is the beloved sister of Ann Marie O'Leary and the late Patricia "Mazzie" Carroll, John Hagerty, Thomas Hagerty, Eleanor Hagerty and Richard "Richie" Hagerty and his surviving wife Maureen. Nippy shared a special loving bond with her nieces Colleen Marrocco and Noreen Ridings and is also survived by her many other nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Nippy's visiting hours on Saturday morning, August 29, 2026, from 9 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 12 Noon. Her burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden.
