Cecilia A. (Kelly) McClellan, a 68 year resident of South Boston and formerly of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Marina Bay Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Quincy. She was 91 years of age.
Cecilia was born in Boston on April 12, 1926, a daughter of the late John Kelly and Bridget (McLaughlin) Kelly. She grew up in Charlestown where she was educated at St. Catherine's Parochial School and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1944. Cecilia worked for over 27 years as a Banquet Waitress for the Sheraton of Boston Hotel. She was a member of The Castle Island Association and South Boston Irish American Society. Cecilia enjoyed each day she was able to spend with her children and had great love and admiration for each one of her grandchildren.
Cecilia is the beloved wife of the late Francis R. McClellan. She is the devoted mother of Kathleen McClellan, Stephen McClellan and his wife Susan, Sheila Pavone and her husband Paul, Mary McClellan, Jane Buckley and her husband Timmy, Christine Chappelle and her husband Marty and the late Elizabeth Glynn and her late husband Marty. She is the loving Grandma and Nana to Marty, Colleen, Maryann, Jimmy, Caitlin, Stephen, Emily, Katherine, Taylor, Dennis, Sara Jane, Maxwell, Cecelia, and to her 10 great-grandchildren. She is the beloved sister of the late Mary Nolan, Patrick Kelly, William Kelly and Jamesie Kelly. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours in The O'Brien Funeral Home, 146 Dorchester St. South Boston on Thursday, December 21, 2017 from 4 to 8 P.M. Funeral Mass in St. Brigid's Church, 841 East Broadway, South Boston on Friday, December 22, 2017 at 10 A.M. Interment Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester. Relatives and friends are invited to attend all services.
