Obituary

Daurice R. (Farrell) Saccardo, a 48 year resident of Melrose, died on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at Winchester Hospital following an extended illness. She was 87 years old.

Daurice was born in Boston on March 6, 1924 to the late Daniel J. and Agnes (Bradley) Farrell. She grew up in Roslindale where she attended Boston Public Schools and graduated from Roslindale High School. Daurice attended Carney Hospital School of Nursing in Dorchester and recieved her degree in nursing and also attended Boston University and recieved her Masters Degree in Education. Daurice worked as a Public Health Nurse for the City of Boston for more than 27 years.

Daurice is the beloved wife of the late Salvatore J. Saccardo. She is the loving aunt of Bonnie Harris of Braintree, Sally Furlong of Weymouth, Grace Lidell of Plymouth, James Farrell of Rockland, Dennis Farrell of Springhill, Florida, Barbara Garland of Weymouth, the late William and Marc Farrell. She is the dear friend of Paula and Bob Steward of West Peabody. She is the sister-in-law of the late Christine, Caroline and Sadie Saccardo. She is also survived by 14 great-nieces and nephews and 19 great-great-nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours for Daurice on Saturday morning, February 18, 2012 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. in The Carr Funeral Home, 1159 Main St. Melrose followed by her Funeral Mass in The Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St. Wakefield at 10 a.m. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden.
