David “Dave” P. Ferrick, 85, of Naples, Florida, formerly of Mashpee and East Cambridge, entered eternal life on Wednesday, August 5, 2026 in Naples Community Hospital in Naples, Florida.

 He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Marie M. Doherty of Naples, FL.

Born on June 28, 1941, in Cambridge, he was the son of the late Michael F. and Elizabeth (Wright) Ferrick. Dave was the brother of the late Michael F. Ferrick and his late wife Nancy, and the late Robert E. Ferrick and his late wife Ellen.

A graduate of Sacred Heart High School, Class of 1958, Dave went on to serve his country in the United States Navy, where he was stationed aboard the U.S.S. Forest Sherman. Following his years of military service, he began a long and dedicated career with New England Telephone Company. Starting as a Central Office Technician, Dave worked his way through the company, retiring as an Area Operation Manager at Verizon with 30 years’ service in 1992.

Dave had a lifelong love of the outdoors, travel, history, and adventure. He was an avid golfer and beachgoer who could often be found enjoying time outside and taking in all that life had to offer. He especially enjoyed traveling and took countless cross-country road trips over the years, always returning home with a new story to tell. Curious by nature, Dave never seemed to stop exploring. His travels took him around the world and only deepened his fascination with people, places, and history. He was an enthusiastic reader and, in later years, an equally enthusiastic Google researcher, always eager to learn something new or satisfy the latest question that had caught his attention. He also enjoyed sharing his love of history, proudly displaying different flags on his 20ft backyard flagpole to mark holidays, historical/military battles, and special occasions throughout the year. It was one of the many ways Dave brought his curiosity and love of history into everyday life. For Dave, there was always another place to see, another story to uncover, or another adventure waiting around the corner.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Dave’s Funeral Mass at 10 A.M. on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, in Sacred Heart Church, 39 6th St., Cambridge. His burial will follow at The Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne promptly at 1:15 P.M.
