Obituary

David G. "Uncle David" Powers, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He was 87 years of age.

David was born in Boston on February 14, 1937, a son of the late Francis E. Powers and Mary (Ahern) Powers. He grew up in Charlestown where he was educated at St. Catherine's Parochial School and graduated from Charlestown High School. David worked for many years at McCarthy Brothers in Hayes Square. David could always be seen walking around Charlestown smoking his cigar or pipe as the gentleman he was and would always be seen at Dunks down the mall with all his friends.

David is the devoted brother of Judith "Judy" Evers, Virginia Powers, Collette Melanson, and the late Carole Scalli, Captain Francis E. Powers Jr. (U.S. Army, KIA), and Boston Firefighter Richard Powers. He is also survived by his many loving nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend David's visiting hours SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 30, 2024, from 10 A.M. to 12 Noon, concluding with his Funeral Service at 12 Noon in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown. His burial will be private.
