Obituary

Doris O. (Maine) Plunkett, a lifelong resident of Somerville, died on Friday August 29, 2008 at The Youville Hospital in Cambridge following a short illness. She was 73 years old.

Doris was born in Somerville on December 20, 1934. She grew up in Somerville where she attended Somerville Public Schools and graduated from Somerville High School in 1952. Doris worked for over 21 years as a secretary for the Chapter 1 Program of the Somerville School Department. She was a cub scout leader for pack # 15 of Somerville and active in bingo at St. Anthony's and St. Catherine's Church's in Somerville.

Doris is the beloved wife of 53 years to Joseph T. Plunkett. She is the devoted mother of Edward J. Plunkett of Somerville and the late Donald D. and Eleanor Plunkett. She is the loving grandmother of Joanne, Donald D. Jr. and Eric Plunkett. She is the sister of the late Lois Swett and Paul Maine. She is the beloved aunt of Paulette Maine-Corrao.

Doris's Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday September 3, 2008 at 10 a.m. in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday September 2, 2008 from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
