Dorothy "Dotty" (McCormick) Duffy, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, age 73, died at her home in Charlestown surrounded by her loving family on Feb. 14th, after a brief illness with cancer. Born, raised and educated in Charlestown, she was employed as a waitress in several area restaurants, and subsequently for several years as an Assembler at the Shrafft's Chocolate Company in Charlestown. Dotty was a devoted member of St. Mary's Parish, where she volunteered as a Eucharistic Minister. She could also be found participating in numerous Parish activities. Dotty was also a member of the Lovely Ladies of Monument Square. She was the beloved wife of 50 years of John R. Duffy and the devoted mother of Ann Marie Keane of South Boston, Joanne Duffy of Somerville, John M. Duffy of Winthrop, Patty McLean of Braintree and Peggy-Ann Duffy-Shea of Charlestown. She was the loving grandmother of 10 grandchildren. Dotty was also the dear sister of James McCormick, Mary Sheehan, Anne Crilley, Gerry and Frank McCormick; all of Charlestown, Peggy O'Neil and Janet LaPorte; both of Florida, Carol McCormick of Winthrop, Joan O'Brien of Malden and the late Robert, Paul, Donald, and Arthur McCormick. Funeral from the Frank H. Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St., Charlestown, on Tuesday, February 19, at 9AM. Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church at 10AM. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting Hours are Monday 4-8 PM. Interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. In lieu of flowers, kindly make donations in Dotty's name to St. Mary's Church Building Fund, 46 Winthrop St., Charlestown, MA 02129. Parking area adjacent to Funeral Home.
