Obituary

Eleanor M. (Burns) O'Neill, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, died on Friday February 6, 2009 at The North End Rehabilitation Nursing Home in the North End of Boston following an extended illness. She was 95 years old.

Eleanor was born in Boston on January 20, 1914. She grew up in Charlestown, where she attended Boston Public Schools and graduated from Charlestown High School. Eleanor was a homemaker most of her life dedicating herself to her husband and 8 children.

Eleanor is the beloved wife of the late Eugene A. O'Neill. She is the devoted mother of Eugene J. O'Neill of Charlestown, Eleanor Collins of Hull, Mary O'Neill-Green of Charlestown, Patricia Meeker of Wilmington, Rita Murphy of Wollaston, Robert O'Neill of Malden, Ann Marie Harding of Ashland and the late Margaret Kent. She is the loving grandmother of 19 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Eleanor's Funeral will be held on Tuesday February 10, 2009 at 10 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours will be on Monday February 9, 2009 from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be private for family members only.
