Obituary

Elizabeth M. (Young) Ortiz, a lifelong resident of Somerville, died on Friday, June 25, 2010 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford following a lengthy illness. She was 69 years old.

Elizabeth was born to the late Joseph and Grace (McGaffigan) Young. She was raised in Somerville where she attended schools there. She was a homemaker most of her adult life.

Elizabeth is the beloved wife of Victor Aponte. She is the devoted mother of Joseph Ortiz and his wife Marion, Raymond Ortiz and his wife Sandra, Artistides "Artie" Ortiz and his wife Carol and Veronica "Vikki" Morganti and her husband Eric. She is the loving grandmother of Kerry, Janelle, Michael, Joseph, Raymond, Jillian, Cameron, Mylissa, "A.J.", Ashliegh and her 10 great-grandchildren. She is the beloved sister of Raymond Young, Richard Young the late Florence Connolly, Dorothy Flynn, Joseph, Robert and William Young.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Elizabeth's Funeral on Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at 9 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Benedicts Church, Hathorn St. Somerville at 10 a.m. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden. Visiting hours will be on Monday, June 28, 2010 from 4 to 8 p.m.
