Obituary

Frederick J. "Fred" Gunning, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at the Woodbriar Health Center in Wilmington following a lenghty illness. He was 84 years old.

Fred was born in Boston on September 1, 1931, a son of the late John Gunning and Margaret (Harte) Gunning. He grew up in Charlestown and was educated in the Boston Public School system. Fred lived a very simple life and was devoted to his faith and St. Mary's Church in Charlestown.

Fred is the devoted brother of Margaret Murphy of Somerville and the late Mary Walsh, John Gunning, Thomas Gunning, James Gunning and Francis Gunning. He is also the loving uncle to his many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Fred's Funeral on Monday, November 16, 2015 at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. His burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. Visiting hours will be on Sunday, November 15, 2015 from 2 to 5 P.M. in the funeral home.
