George W. "Billy" Turner lll, of Medford and formerly of Charlestown, died on Saturday September 13, 2008 at Cambridge City Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was 55 years old.
Billy was born in Boston. He grew up in Charlestown where he attended Boston Public Schools and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1971. Billy has been a self employed painting contractor most of his life.
Billy is the beloved husband of Joanne (Shaw) Turner. He is the loving son of Margaret (Austin) Turner and the late George W. Turner ll. He is the beloved brother of Linda Turner of Everett and Scott Turner and his wife Lisa of Nashua, N.H. Son-in-law of Norman and Doris Shaw of Charlestown. Brother-in-law of Richard and Martie Shaw of Fremont, N.H., Sandra and Allen Weagle of Searsmont, Maine, Terry and Deborah Shaw of Wynantskill, N.Y., David and Lori Shaw of Tyngsboro, Laura Shaw and her partner David Jackson of Lee, N.H., Ruth and James Casavant of Warwick, R.I. and Paula and Daniel Melaugh of Lee, N.H. He is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday September 16, 2008 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. followed by a Funeral Service at 2 p.m. in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown. Cremation will take place following his service.
In lieu of flowers, kindly make memorial donations in George's name to Somerville/Cambridge Elder Service's Meals on Wheels Program, 61 Medford St. Somerville, Mass. 02143.
