Gerard J. “Jerry” Benoit, a lifelong resident of Charlestown and a proud Townie, entered into eternal life on Saturday, August 29, 2026, surrounded with the love and presence of his sister and nieces and held lovingly by his children beside him in the peaceful moment God called him home at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington. He was 80 years old.

Jerry was born in Boston on August 22, 1946, a son of the late Henry Benoit and Mary (Boyle) Benoit. He grew up in Charlestown where he was educated throughout the Boston Public School system. Jerry worked in the construction business for many years as a General Contractor. He was a former member of Teamsters Union Local # 25 and a member of The Old Charlestown Schoolboys Association.

Jerry would do anything he could for everyone he loved. His gentle eyes, beautiful smile and constant unwavering love, kindness and guidance for his children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and everyone he loved was infinite. Our memories of his strong Faith, laughter, "back when" memories & jokes are missed deeply and cherished indefinitely. He was there for his children at any moment, anytime. He was always available & we could come to him about anything, he would listen and give us guidance or just a safe place to talk. He was the Sun, moon and bright star in our life, our constant. He couldn't have shown anymore love as a parent. Heaven gained the best of the best on Saturday. He was a wonderful man and is looking at us with pure love and peace. He wanted to be celebrated so we pray to find the strength and faith he led with every day to help navigate each other and our entire family with this unimaginable pain we are all feeling.

Jerry is the devoted father of Jerry Benoit and his wife Katie, Gary Benoit and his wife Linda, Paul Saccardo, Tiffany Benoit-Smith and her husband William, Tamela Higginson, Tracy McKinney-Anderson and her husband Greg, and John Thomas Benoit and his wife Deirdre. He is the loving Papa of Dominic, Alexis, Victoria, Cain, Paul, Corin, Taylor, Tatum, Tia, Layla, Myles, Maxton, Asher, Lyra, Sophia, Ava, Lyla, Reya, Vienna, Enzo, and Arwen. He is the dear brother of Cece Emerson, and the late William Benoit, Paul Benoit, Winifred "Winnie" Anthony, and Pauline Davis. He is also survived by his dear friends Jerry McCormick and Joseph DiCato, and many loving nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Jerrys funeral on Friday, September 4, 2026 at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10 A.M. in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown. His burial will be at New Calvary Cemetery in Mattapan. His visiting hours will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2026 from 4 P.M. to 7 P.M.
