Obituary

Helen P. Monahan, age 97, a lifelong Charlestown resident died Sunday evening, July 31, 2005, at the Marion Manor Nursing Home after a prolong illness.

Helen attended St. Mary's Grammar School in Charlestown and is a graduate of the Boston Clerical School. She worked as secretary for the Murray Confectionary Company in Boston for 15 years. Helen later served as Chief Secretary at the Boston office of AFL-CIO from which she retired after 25 years.

Helen was the daughter of the late Margaret (Crossin) and Frank G. Monahan. She was the devoted sister of the late Josephine Finnigan, Margaret Brady, Francis A., William J. and Joseph F. Monahan. Helen is the loving aunt of Patricia Monahan-Gilmore of Quincy. Helen was a member of the Old Charlestown Schoolgirls Association.

Helen's Funeral will be held at the Frank H. Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill Street, Charlestown, on Thursday, August 4, 2005, at 10 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren Street, Charlestown, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting Hours for Arthur will be held on Wednesday, August 3, 2005, from 3 – 7 p.m. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden, MA.
