James H. "Jim" Rooney Jr., a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.He was 76 years of age.

Jim was born in Malden on March 25, 1942, a son of the late James H. Rooney and Catherine E. (Connolly) Rooney. He grew up in Charlestown where he attended St. Catherine's Parochial School and graduated from the Boston Trade High School Annex. He worked as a laborer and maintenance man at the Mishawum Park in Charlestown and at the Palmer and Parker Lumber Yard. Jim enjoyed hunting, collecting stamps, and collecting coins. He was a member of the Bunker Hill Council #62, Knights of Columbus, and The Halligan Club in Charlestown.

Jim is the beloved son of the late James H. Rooney and Catherine E. (Connolly) Rooney. He is the devoted brother of Catherine "Kay" Agri and her husband John, Retired Boston Police Officer John Rooney and his companion Christine McLaughlin, Joann Henderson and her late husband John, Karen Snow and her husband Michael, and the late Claire Rooney and Richard J. Rooney. He is the beloved uncle of Jonalyn Agri, Derek Agri, Clifton Agri, Sarah Henderson and her husband Jason Marshall, Maxx Snow, Jake Snow, the late Owen Henderson, and also his 5 great nieces, Goddaughter Liane Devine and his dear friend Alan Lee.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Jim's Funeral Mass on Friday, March 29, 2019 in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. His burial is private. There are no funeral home visiting hours.
