John T. "Jack" Drohan Jr., a 32 year resident of Melrose and formerly of East Boston, died suddenly on Monday, December 5, 2011 at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital. He was 64 years old.
John was born in Boston on March 5, 1947 to the late John T. and Kathryn (Bambrick) Drohan. He grew up in East Boston, where he attended St. Mary's Parochial School and graduated from East Boston High School in 1964 and then attended Wentworth Institute in Boston. John enlisted into the United States Navy on June 19, 1967 and served his country proudly and honorably during the Vietnam Conflict. He was discharged on November 1, 1968 with the rank E-3. John worked for more than 30 years as a Draftsman for Polaroid Corporation. Following his retirement from Polaroid, John had been working for Home Depot in Reading for the last 7 years.
John is the beloved husband of 36 years to Maryann (Caggiano) Drohan. He is the devoted father of Michelle Drohan of Melrose. He is the loving brother of Theresa "Terri" Rusnack and her husband Jerome "Rusty" of Brockton, Kathleen "Kathy" Norwood and her husband Gerald "Jerry" of Brockton, Marilyn Drohan of Winthrop, Denise Gemma and her husband Patrick "Pat" of Revere, Mary Trafton and her husband Keith of Maine, Kevin Drohan and his wife Kathy of Revere and Arlene Savage and her husband John of South Weymouth. He is the beloved brother-in-law of Emily Burstein and her husband Phil of Billerica and Anthony Caggiano and his wife Sara of Florida. He is also the loving uncle of many nieces and nephews and the late Christopher Norwood.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend John's Funeral on Friday, December 9, 2011 at 9 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home, 1159 Main St. Melrose followed by his Funeral Mass in The Church of The Incarnation, 425 Upham St. Melrose at 10 a.m. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. Visiting hours will be on Thursday, December 8, 2011 from 4 to 8 p.m.
