John J. "Jake" Carroll, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Saturday, June 7, 2025, in his home in Charlestown. He was 78 years of age.
Jake was born in Somerville on February 10, 1947, a son of the late Hugh Carroll and Nora (Hoban) Carroll. He grew up in Charlestown where he attended St. Mary's Parochial School and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1965. Jake worked as an electrician for Carney Hospital in Dorchester and later for Building Technology Engineers. Jake enjoyed playing half ball when the tournaments were held at the former Charlestown High School and doing crossword puzzles. He was an avid Boston sports fan, especially watching the Red Sox. He took great pride in his Irish heritage and would frequently listen to Irish music. He was a member of the Halligan Club of Charlestown and was a former member of the Irish American Club in Malden.
Jake is the beloved husband for over 53 years to Pat A. Carroll. He is the loving father of Jake Carroll and his girlfriend Amanda, Michael Carroll and his wife Cathy, Tim Carroll, and Erin Husslein and her late husband Garrett. He is the devoted Papa to Michael Patrick, George and Max Carroll and Gavin Husslein. He is the dear brother of Hugh Carroll and the late Mary Cote and her husband Arthur. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. He is the dear friend of Teddy McLaughlin and the late John Doherty.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Jake's visiting hours on Wednesday morning, June 11, 2025, from 9:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 12 Noon. His burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden.
In lieu of flowers, kindly make a memorial donation in Jake's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105-9959
