"Buzzy" Fleming Jr.

Joseph D. "Buzzy" Fleming Jr., a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at the Massachusetts General Hospital. He was 81 years of age.
Buzzy was born in Boston on February 14, 1936, a son of the late Joseph D. Fleming and Rose (Gaetano) Fleming. He grew up in Charlestown where he was educated in the Boston Public School system and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1953, where he was the President of his class and excelled in football. Buzzy worked for the M.B.T.A. for 23 years as a bus driver until his retirement in 1991. Following his retirement from the M.B.T.A, Buzzy worked as an usher for Fenway Park for over 20 years. He was a retired member past President of the M.B.T.A. Carmen's Union Local #589 and was a member of the Board of Directors for the M.B.T.A. credit union.
Buzzy is the beloved husband of 60 years to Eileen B. (McGonagle) Fleming. He is the devoted father of Sharon Sullivan and her husband Rick, Lynne Woods, and Joseph D. Fleming III. He is the loving Grandpa to Kathleen, Michael, Kelleigh, and the late John Woods III. He is the beloved brother of Claire Joyce and Debby Symons. He is also lovingly survived by his many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Buzzy's Funeral on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. His burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett. His visiting hours will be on Monday, September 25, 2017 from 4 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
