Josephine L. (Stuppiello) McDonough, a 45 year resident of Charlestown and formerly of Brighton and the North End of Boston, entered into eternal life suddenly on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at her home in Charlestown. She was 81 years of age.
Josephine was born in Boston on June 18, 1937, a daughter of the late John Stuppiello and Vita (Vitale) Stuppiello. She grew up in the North End of Boston where she was educated at St. John's Parochial School and graduated from Julia Billiard High School in the North End of Boston in 1955. She worked as a Medical Clerk at Boston City Hospital for 20 years. Josephine was very active in the Mishawum Community in Charlestown. She enjoyed reading and loved visiting the beach and watching the ocean. Josephine's greatest joy in her life were her 3 daughters and their families and the many special occasions and family gatherings she was able to cook for them and spend very intimate family moments.
Josephine is the wife of the late Edward P. McDonough. She is the devoted mother of Mary Flaherty and her companion Ronald Marino, Rita Nunez and her husband Raul, and Maureen McDonough-Kelly and her husband Kevin. She is the loving Nana and Nina to Natalie, Maureen, Alexandra, Steven, Meghan, Alana, Nolan, and the late Christopher Nunez and Kaitlyn Kelly. She is the loving GiGi to her great-granddaughters Haley and Lorelai. She is the beloved sister of Bridget Iozza and Lillian Szymanski. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Josephine's Funeral on Monday, June 3, 2019 at 10 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 11 A.M. Her burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett. Her visiting hours will be on Sunday, June 2, 2019 from 2 to 6 P.M. in the funeral home.
