Obituary

Margaret M. "Peg" (Dunbar) O'Neil, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Sunday, December 14, 2014 at The Spaulding Nursing and Therapy Center in the North End of Boston following a lengthy illness. She was 78 years old.

Peg was born in Boston on April 2, 1936, a daughter of the late John B. Dunbar and Margaret V. (McGovern) Dunbar. She grew up in Charlestown where she was educated in the Boston Public School system and graduated from Julie Billiart High School in the North End of Boston in 1954. Peg was a homemaker and cherished the quality time with her family especially her granddaughter Megan. She enjoyed playing bingo and traveling to Foxwoods, watching old movies and listening to Dean Martin.

Peg is the beloved wife of 58 years to William H. O'Neil Jr. She is the devoted mother of Margaret Baker and her husband Joseph of Saugus and Maureen O'Neil of Charlestown. She is the loving Nana to Megan O'Neil. She is the beloved sister of Sally Robinson of Saugus and the late John Dunbar. She is the sister-in-law of Rita Dunbar of Lynn. She is the niece of Josephine Ferguson of Charlestown and the late Helen McGovern. She is the best friend of the late Anna Ford. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Peg's Funeral on Friday, December 19, 2014 at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. Her burial will be at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Visiting hours will be on Thursday, December 18, 2014 from 4 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
