Obituary

Mary R. (Hennessy) McDonald, a 9 year resident of Melrose and formerly of Somerville, died on Friday April 18, 2008, at the Tuell Nursing Home in Melrose following an extended illness. She was 97 years old.

Mary was born in Boston on July 22, 1910. She lived in East Boston where she attended Boston Public Schools before moving to Somerville and graduating from Somerville High School. Mary was a homemaker most of her life taking care of her husband and daughter.

Mary is the beloved wife of the late John H. McDonald. She is the devoted mother of Terry Akell and her late husband Harry of Melrose. She is the loving grandmother of David and Alison Akell both of Melrose and Sean Akell of Wakefield. She is the beloved sister of the late Anna Prendergast and Eileen Breen. She is the beloved aunt of 5 nieces and 1 nephew.

Mary's Funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2008, at 8 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home, 1159 Main Street, Melrose, followed by her Funeral Mass in The Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main Street, Wakefield, at 9 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours for Mary are on Monday, April 21, 2008, from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial will be at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
