Obituary

Mary C. (McNamee) Griffis, a 41 year resident of Everett and formerly of Charlestown, passed into eternal life on Friday, December 14, 2012 at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital in Melrose following a short illness with cancer. She was 69 years old.

Mary was born in Boston on April 14, 1943, a daughter of the late Henry McNamee and Ellen (McCarthy) McNamee. She grew up in Charlestown where she attended the Boston Public School system. Mary worked as a Health Aide for Intercity Homemakers for several years and was a volunteer at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital for 5 years. "SHE MADE The PROGRAM."

Mary is the beloved wife of 48 years to Phillip Griffis. She is the devoted mother of Patrick Griffis of Cambridge and Patricia Griffis of Everett. She is the beloved sister of Margaret "Peggy" Loftin of Tewksbury, Henry "Buzz" McNamee of Peabody, Eileen Nye of Everett and John McNamee of Tewksbury. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mary's Funeral on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at 9 a.m. from the Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10 a.m. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. Visiting hours will be on Monday, December 17, 2012 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
