Mathew A. "Matty" Chiampa, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life in his home on Tuesday, August 4, 2026. He was 64 years old.

Matty was born in Somerville on January 24, 1962, a son of the late Patrick Chiampa and Virginia (Fidler) Chiampa. He grew up in Charlestown where he was educated in the Boston Public School System and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1980. Matty worked as a Letter Carrier for the United States Postal Service for a total of 40 years, spending 28 years in Winthrop and 12 years in Charlestown. He was a member of the Letter Carriers Union Branch 34. Matty enjoyed watching golf religiously and was an avid NE Patriots fan.

Matty is the beloved husband of 42 years of Robin A. (McGoff) Chiampa. He is the devoted father of Chris Chiampa, and Nikki Chiampa and her husband Devin O'Leary. He is the dear brother of Ginny Chiampa, Mary Ann Chiampa, Michael Chiampa and his wife Janice, Michele Chiampa, and the late Mark Chiampa and Suzanne "Sue" McKeon. He is the brother-in-law of Lisa and John Collins, Kevin and Lisa McGoff, Thomas and Peggy McGoff, Bob and Ann McGoff, the late Daniel McGoff and his surviving wife Doris, and the late William and Taryn McGoff. He is also survived by several loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Matty's visiting hours on Sunday, August 9, 2026 from 1 P.M. to 4 P.M., concluding with a prayer service at 4 P.M. in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown. His burial will be private.
