Michael G. "Mike" Howell, a lifelong resident of Charlestown and a proud Townie, entered into eternal life on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at his home following a courageous battle with cancer. He was 65 years old.
Mike was born in Boston on April 29, 1961, a son of the late Donald F. Howell and Mary Ellen (Wrenn) Howell. He grew up in Charlestown where he was educated at St. Francis De Sales Parochial School and graduated from Christopher Columbus High School in the North End in 1979. Mike worked for over 25 years in the family business with Eagle Elevator and finished his career as an Elevator Inspector for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. He was a member of The International Union of Elevator Constructors Local # 4. Mike enjoyed the simpler things in life and enjoyed spending his time at his homes in Litchfield, Maine. He was a member of Bunker Hill Council # 62, Knights of Columbus. Above all else, Mike knew how lucky he was while battling his illness, that the dedication and love that his 4 sisters and other family members gave him helped ease the burden of his pain.
Mike is the beloved son of the late Donald F. Howell and Mary Ellen (Wrenn) Howell. He is the devoted brother of Rusty Howell and his wife Beth, Donna Downs and her husband Tom, Lynda Fitzpatrick and her husband Warren, Sheila Fitzpatrick and her husband Jim and Carol Howell. He is the loving uncle to Paul, Steven, Janine, Warren(Sergeant U.S. Army), Kevin, Jimmy, Molly, Alyson, Kimberly, Kathleen, Tommy, Maura, Bridget, the late Brian and his great-nieces and nephews, Mason, Rylan, Emmersen, Ella, Emilia, Evie, Jameson, Macklyn and Graham. He is also survived by his dear cousin Richie Steen and his several aunts, uncles and cousins.
