Obituary

Michael J. "Mike" Venezia, a 19 year resident of Saugus and former longtime resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Sunday, February 28, 2021 at his home in Saugus. He was 79 years of age.

Mike was born in Somerville on May 27, 1941, a son of the late Nathaniel J. Venezia and Mary L. (Pelosi) Venezia. He grew up in Charlestown where he was educated in the Boston Public School system and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1957. Mike worked for the Outside Transportation Department at Massachusetts General Hospital for over 20 years before retiring. Prior to the Mass. General Hospital employment, Mike worked at the family business of Mama Maria's Restaurant at the corner of Bunker Hill St. and Lexington St. in Charlestown for many years serving the people of Charlestown. He was a member of The Charlestown Lions Club and Past President of St. Francis De Sales Church Holy Name Society.

Mike is the beloved husband of the late Patricia A. (Shea) Venezia. He is the devoted father of Sheila Williams and her husband Kevin, Michael Venezia Jr., Erin Venezia and her husband Chris Kelleher and Mary Winslow and her husband Fred. He is the loving Da to 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He is the beloved brother of the late Elena Rizzo. He is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mike's visiting hours on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 from 4 to 6 P.M. in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown. Mikes Funeral Services and burial will be private.
