Obituary

Michael Patrick Murphy, a resident of Saugus and formerly of Charlestown, entered into eternal life unexpectedly at his home in Saugus on Saturday, February 18, 2023 following a short battle with cancer. He was 54 years of age.

Michael "Murph" was educated in the Boston school system. He was employed by the Boston Globe, Teamsters Local 1, Mailers Union for 25 years. He was most recently employed with Local 11.

Michael is the loving son of Janie Johnson and James P. Murphy. Beloved nephew of Harry and Carol Johnson, Richie and Marianne Johnson, Diane Sullivan and late husband Jeremiah and the late Kenny and Patsy Johnson, Robert Johnson and Paul Johnson and his surviving wife Janie. Also survived by many loving cousins. Murph is also survived by his dear friends Michael and Brian Lacey.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Michael's Funeral on Friday, February 24, 2023 at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. His burial will be private. His visiting hours will be on Thursday, February 23, 2023 from 4 to 7 P.M. in the funeral home.
