Obituary

Paul D. Harrington, a resident of Melrose for a little more than 10 years and former longtime resident of Somerville died unexpectedly on Wednesday April 30, 2008 at his home in Melrose. He was 84 years old.

Paul was born in Boston on June 25, 1923. He grew up in Somerville where he attended Somerville Public Schools. Paul enlisted into the United States Navy on March 9, 1943 and served during World War 2 and was discharged on February 18, 1946 with the rank of Fire Controlman Third Class.He worked for many years as a painter. He was a member of Harold O. Young V.F.W. Post 3 2394 of Melrose.

Paul is the beloved son of the late Dennis J. and Julia (Sullivan) Harrington. He is the devoted brother of the late Mary C. and James Harrington.

Paul's Funeral will be held on Friday May 16, 2008 at 8 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home, 1159 Main St. Melrose followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, (corner of Myrtle & Herbert Streets) Melrose at 9 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours for Paul will be on Thursday May 15, 2008 from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
