Paul J. McGonagle, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life suddenly at his home in Charlestown on Wednesday, October 12, 2016. He was 68 years old.
Paul was born in Everett on June 14, 1948, a son of the late Charles G. McGonagle and Helen F. (Walsh) McGonagle. He grew up in Charlestown where he was educated at St. Francis De Sales Parochial School and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1967. Paul worked for the United States Postal Service as a Letter Carrier and retired after 30 years of dedicated service to his country. Paul was a member of Bunker Hill Council # 62, Knights of Columbus and the Old Charlestown Schoolboys Association.
Paul is the beloved son of the late Charles G. McGonagle and Helen F. (Walsh) McGonagle. He is the devoted brother of Charles McGonagle and his wife Mary of Charlestown, retired Boston Firefighter Leo McGonagle and his companion Mary Devlin of Charlestown and the late Helen Connolly. Paul is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Paul's Funeral on Monday, October 17, 2016 at 11 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 12 Noon. His burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. His visiting hours will be on Sunday, October 16, 2016 from 2 to 6 P.M. in the funeral home.
