Obituary

Retired Boston Fire Department Captain Leo T. Sullivan, a 55-year resident of Squantum and formerly of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at the Milton Hospital in Milton. He was 90 years of age.

Leo was born in Boston on June 21, 1933, a son of the late Leo Sullivan and Catherine (Farren) Sullivan. He grew up in Charlestown where he was educated. Leo enlisted into the United States Army on May 15, 1953, and served his country with honor and pride during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged on April 23, 1955, with the rank of Corporal. Leo was appointed to the Boston Fire Department and rose to the rank of Captain following 38 years of dedicated service to the City of Boston. He was a member and President of The Boston Fire Department "Liars Club" and member of The Old Charlestown Schoolboys Association.

Leo is the beloved husband of 58 years to Frances C. "Fran" (Bradley) Sullivan. He is the devoted father of Patti Donahue and her husband Jim of Plymouth. He is the loving Grampy to Kelli Patrick and her husband Brett and their daughter Ryleigh Patrick of Farmington, New Hampshire and J.P. Donahue and his girlfriend Annie Mattia of Franklin, Mass. He is the beloved brother of the late Marie Novello, Jackie Sullivan and Joseph Sullivan. He is also survived by several loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Leo's visiting hours on Monday, June 3, 2024, from 4 to 7 P.M. in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday morning, June 4, 2024, at 10:30 A.M. in Sacred Heart Church, 386 Hancock St. Quincy. (PLEASE GO DIRECTLY TO CHURCH). His burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden.
