Retired City of Lynn Firefighter Brian F. McCabe, of Medford, formerly of Lynn, Quincy and Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Monday, March 3, 2025, at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading. He was 77 years of age.
Brian was born in Boston on May 1, 1947, a son of the late John J. McCabe and Leona (Curtin) McCabe. He grew up in Charlestown where he was educated at St. Mary's Parochial School and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1964. Brian was appointed to the City of Lynn Fire Department and served the City of Lynn as a firefighter for many years. Brian enjoyed spending his winter months in Pompano Beach, Florida for many years before moving there permanently for several years where he enjoyed playing golf every day. He was a member of Bunker Hill Council # 62, Knights of Columbus and The Halligan Club in Charlestown.
Brian is the devoted father of Arleigh Mitchell and her husband Scott. He is the loving Grampy to Jordan Mitchell. He is the beloved brother of Janet Bruno, Elaine O'Connell and her husband Bill, Steven McCabe and the late John J. McCabe Jr. and his surviving wife Esther "Snooky" McCabe. He is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Brian's Funeral on Monday, March 10, 2025, at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. His burial will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett. His visiting hours will be on Sunday, March 9, 2025, from 3 P.M. to 6 P.M. in the funeral home.
