Obituary

Richard J. Whalen, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, died suddenly on Friday, November 18, 2011 at Tufts Medical Center in Boston. He was 36 years old.

Richie was born in Boston on August 18, 1975 to Colleen M. (Doe) and George H. Whalen. He grew up in Charlestown and attended the Boston Public School system. He has been working as a laborer for several companies in the area.

Richie is the beloved son of George H. Whalen and the late Colleen M. (Doe). He is the beloved father of Jonathan Whalen. He is the beloved brother of the late Jillian Boyden. He is the loving Grandson of Colleen Braccini and her husband Mike and Lillian Whalen. Richie is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Richie's Funeral Mass on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 10 a.m. in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown. There are no visiting hours and burial was private.
