Obituary

Robert L. "Bob" Pigott, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life peacefully on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at The Chelsea Soldiers Home in Chelsea, surrounded by the love of his family. He was 87 years old.

Bob was born in Cambridge on May 30, 1928, a son of the late Maurice Pigott and Sarah V. (Kerrissey) Pigott. He grew up in Charlestown where he was educated in the Boston Public School system. Bob enlisted into the United States Army on October 5, 1946 and served his country faithfully as a member of Division 333, Military Police in Japan. He was honorably discharged on March 4, 1948 with the rank of Private First Class. Bob worked as a Postal Worker with the United States Postal Service and retired in 1992 after 26 years of dedicated service. Bob was a devoted Townie who was a member of The Old Charlestown Schoolboys Association and Bunker Hill Council # 62, Knights of Columbus.

Bob is the beloved husband of the late Margaret M. "Peg" (Martine) Pigott. He is the devoted father of Mary Jo Pigott-Groom and her husband Ralph of Winter Park, Florida, Kathy Pigott-Brodeur and her husband Andy of Melrose, and Beth Mahoney and her husband Jack of Worcester. He is the loving Papa to Nicole, Lia, Bobby, Jillian, and Joshua. He is the beloved brother of Mary Untersee of Natick, and the late John Collins, Maurice Pigott, James Pigott, Richard Pigott, Joseph Pigott, and Gerard Pigott. He is the loving Brother-in-Law of Irene Pigott of Medford, Peg Martine of Falmouth, Pat Pigott of Hawaii, and the late Barbara Pigott, Pat Collins, and Philip Untersee. He is also lovingly survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Bob's Funeral on Monday, February 29, 2016 at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. His burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett. His visiting hours will be on Sunday, February 28, 2016 from 2 to 6 P.M. in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, kindly make a memorial donation in Bob's name to The Chelsea Soldiers Home, c/o Recreation Fund, 91 Crest Avenue, Chelsea, Mass. 02150.
