Rose M. (McLaughlin) Bartolo, 95, of Charlestown, MA passed away peacefully on Friday, September 25, 2026 in her home, with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Carmine A. Bartolo and the dear mother of daughters Ann Marie and Maryann.

Rose was born in 1931 in the Charlestown home she would spend her lifetime in. There she was raised alongside her four siblings, the late John McLaughlin, Anna Myles, Hugh McLaughlin, and Mary Heffernan. Her parents, the late Annie (Lafferty) and John McLaughlin, hailed from Donegal, Ireland.

Rose’s life was defined by her devotion to the love and care of her family. Yet she was quick to embrace all whom she met with a giving heart and open hands.

Rose worked at the Kennedy Center in Charlestown as a homemaker for the elderly, welcoming her clients as her extended family. As the years passed, with cherished longtime neighbors diminishing, she welcomed the new, passing the history of this town on to them.

Rose attended St. Francis De Sales Elementary School and Girls Practical Arts High School.

She met her dear husband Carmine while working at the former Revere Sugar Refinery, Medford Street, Charlestown. They were married in 1955 at St. Francis de Sales Church, Charlestown and enjoyed over 60 years together before his passing in 2015.

Along with her daughters, many cherished nieces and nephews survive Rose.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Rose’s Funeral Mass on Thursday, October 1, 2026 at 11 A.M. in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill Street, Charlestown. Her burial at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden will be private. There will be no visitation hours.
