Theresa N. (Coleman) McLaughlin, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life peacefully on Saturday, October 15, 2022 surrounded by her loving family at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. She was 96 years of age.
Theresa was born in Boston on April 12, 1926, a daughter of the late Patrick J. Coleman and Mary K. (McCarthy) Coleman. She grew up in Charlestown where she was educated in the Boston Public School system and graduated from Charlestown High School. Theresa was a homemaker most of her adult life where she dedicated herself to her husband and took great pride nurturing her 6 children throughout their lives. Most importantly later in Theresa's life were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who she adored and was so very proud of each one of their accomplishments in their lives. In her spare time, Theresa enjoyed watching the Hallmark channel, enjoyed reading, taking care of her plants and watching the Boston Bruins, Red Sox and Patriots whenever she had the opportunity. She was a member of The Old Charlestown Schoolgirls Association, Daughters of Isabella # 1 and member and Past President of The Charlestown Lions Club.
Theresa is the beloved wife of the late Thomas P. McLaughlin. She is the devoted mother of Patrick McLaughlin and his wife Tricia, Mary Donovan and her husband Kevin, Terry Haines and her husband Jim, Thomas P. McLaughlin Jr. and his partner Frances Lira, the late Sheila McLaughlin O'Neil and her surviving husband Kevin and the late Sharon McLaughlin-Utterwijk and her surviving husband Michael. She is the loving Nana to Kevin, Michelle, Daniel, Kathleen, Mary Kate, Brendan, Brendan James, Mikaela, Bridget, Colleen, Shannon, Erin and her 9 great-grandchildren. She is the beloved sister of the late Joan Hansen, John Coleman, Patrick Coleman, Francis "Bud" Coleman, Phil Coleman, Sheila Connolly and Mary "Sis" Coleman. She is also survived by her many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Theresa's Funeral on Thursday morning, October 20, 2022 at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. Her burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. Her visiting hours will be on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 from 3 to 7 P.M. in the funeral home.
