Obituary

Virginia M. (Vallee) Carey, formerly of Charlestown and Medford, entered into eternal life on Thursday September 15, 2022 at the Bethesda Hospital East, Boynton Beach, Florida. She was 88 years of age.

Virginia was born in Boston on December 1, 1933, daughter of the late Fred and Catherine Vallee. She grew up in Charlestown where she was educated in the Boston Public Schools and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1949. Virginia first went to work for the telephone company and later for an insurance and then a reinsurance company eventually retiring from a subsidiary of the Hartford Insurance Company.

Virginia was the beloved wife of the late John E. Carey, Jr. She was a devoted mother and is survived by her children Dianne Carey, Michael Carey and his wife Lisa, John Carey and his wife Grace and Denise Mascal and her husband Tim. She was grandmother to eight grandchildren. She is kindly remembered by her brother-in-law Fred Carey and his wife Pat her brother-in-law Jack Ray and her sister the late Rosemarie Ray and the late Dorothy Nelson and her husband John. She is also survived by many nieces and a nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Virginia's Funeral on Thursday, September 29, 2022 at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St., Charlestown followed by a Mass of the Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St, Charlestown at 10 A.M. Her interment will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford.
