Obituary

Walter P. Kelley, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at the Massachusetts General Hospital. He was 80 years old.

Walter was born in Boston on September 26, 1942, a son of the late Owen F. Kelley and Grace E. (Martine) Kelley. He grew up in Charlestown where he was educated in the Boston Public School System and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1960. He served his country with pride and honor in the U.S. Army Reserves from November 1964 until he was honorably discharged in April 1970. Walter worked as a property manager for 30 years for Barron Real Estate in Chestnut Hill and previously as a Shipping Clerk for B&M Trucking. In his spare time Walter was an avid woodworker who specialized in caning and seat weaving.

Walter is the beloved husband and partner of 48 years to Thomas N. Cobb. He is the dear brother of Francis X. "Frank" Kelley and his late wife Ann, James M. Kelley and his late wife Connie, Kevin Kelley and his wife Geri, and the late Muriel C. McInnis and her surviving husband Francis X. "Frank". He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Walter's Funeral on Monday, March 6, 2023 at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass at 10 A.M. in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown. His Burial will be private. His visiting hours will be held on Sunday, March 5, 2023 from 2 P.M. to 5 P.M. in the funeral home.
