William “Bill” Nehill went home to God on Wednesday, June 17, 2026. He was 81 years of age. 

Bill was born in Troy, NY on December 13, 1944, a son of the late Arthur F. and Myrtle Nehill. He grew up in Troy where his mom, a nurse at the hospital behind the family home, played “pitch and catch” with him until he could finally develop a curveball that dropped off the table. In the summer of 1960, Bill met his lifelong sweetheart, Rosemary, at the corner of 15th and Hoosick Street. He graduated from Troy High School and received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the State University of New York at Albany. His career with Albany International brought him to work and live in Albany, NY; Boston, MA; Central NY; the United Kingdom; Montreal, Quebec; and Lewiston, ME. Eventually, Bill and his family settled in Western NY where he continued his career in finance and played an active role in the community. 

Bill leaves behind his sons William J. and Sean P., his daughter-in-law Jennifer, and his grandsons Brendan and Ryan. He is also survived by Sylvia Cosgrove, and many, many wonderful friends. Bill is now reunited with his parents, Arthur and “Myrt”; his beloved wife, Rosemary; his sister, Helen; and his brother, Arthur. 

Bill's family would like to thank the staff at Providence House in Brighton and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center for the care and kindness shown to him in his final days. 

A Mass and burial will be held in the Capital District at a date to be determined.
